C.L.O.W.T. Crowedge Locals Opposing Wind Turbines

01/03/07 E.ON have indicated that they are to hold two public exhibition's at the Crowedge Community Centre. The dates are:- 27th March 2007 (2.00pm - 8.00pm) and 28th March 2007 (9.00am - 1.00pm) these are on the E.ON website http://www.eon-uk.com/3253.aspx and will be advertised through the local press and to local residents. This is in addition to the wind turbines Banks have proposed. _____________________________________________________
19/01/07 Indications are that the planning meeting about the wind turbines will take place on 6th March 2007 and a decision made with regards to the scheme. _____________________________________________________ 6/12/06 E.ON, the UK's largest energy company, has revealed plans to carry out feasibility studies to erect three more turbines on land just half a mile away. These could be as high as 360ft, on land at Blackstone Edge, between Crowedge and the existing Royd Moor 13-turbine wind farm on a ridge above Thurlstone and Penistone.
_____________________________________________________ 28/11/06 The application was to be presented to the Council Planning Regulatory Board on 5th December 2006 has been postponed. The council are awaiting responses from the developers on issues raised by the planning department.

Banks Developments have indicated that they have applied for planning permission to erect the wind farm at Crowedge. The planning application has been submitted to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and has come to CLOWT'S attention through a local Crowedge resident who received a mail drop by Banks Developments.

TONY BLAIR ACCUSED OF NIMBYISM. The Prime Minister is reported in the Daily Mail on Friday 17/12/2004 as being opposed to a wind farm site just 1 mile away from his home in Trimdon Colliery, County Durham. It seems that he has the same concerns about the windfarm being sited too close to homes, just as we have about the proposed Crowedge site.
